Ok, I’m an artist. It’s true. And, like most artists I know, we want to make a living doing what we do best: create.

So I’ve been reading a LOT of marketing materials over the past few years. A white paper here, a Socially Stacked blog post there. Copyblogger was my blog bible for a while (still love them) and recently I’ve been reading LinkedIn’s posts about business, what’s good practice, how to do it according to Richard Branson.

Well, today folks, today was the capper. A post about how we must all ask The Give a Crap question about what we offer (see blog post from Oct 18, 2013). Basically I began the article as a willing student and ended the article laughing my ass off. I create art. The question I’m supposed to answer is: Do people give a crap? You do the math.

In a moment this blog was born. My purpose is to match theĀ deafening SEO-this and social media-that advice with how it applies to us, the artists. We have a business; the business of art and it just doesn’t jive with what’s being advised.
